Do you agree with piercing a infants ears?

Just curious because I know this is a controversial topic to some. Personally I don’t think it’s a big deal because I got my ears pierced as a baby and thought they where cute

Not my cup of tea. I don’t see the point in doing it as a baby. That’s something I look forward to experiencing WITH my daughters, when and IF they decide to get them pierced, instead of experiencing it FOR them. It’s not my choice to put holes in their ears for cosmetic reasons only.

By piercing an infant’s ears you are intentionally creating two open wounds on a tiny creature with no immune system. It’s a risk I don’t feel is necessary.

I let my girls pick when they wanted them done. I let it be their choice. So they learned to take care of them. It’s their body. My mom did mine as a baby and I never took care of them. I’ve had to get the redone like 3 times now cause they close up so fast

Honestly, I wouldn’t do it until my daughter is old enough and actually wants her ears pierced. I’d say the experience and health reasons are just as important. I didn’t get mine pierced till I wanted them when I was around 6 years old. I know my sister pierced her daughters ears when they were infants and had to have them pierced again because of the lack of care & use, so the holes had healed again. I see no problem with waiting but it’s definitely up to you mommy’s.

As someone who had their ears pierced as a baby and went on to get 2 more sets of piercings up my ears (meaning I enjoy having them pierced) I have not and will not pierce my two daughters ears until they are old enough to decide they want them (currently 2 and 5 months)    They serve no purpose other than to look good and to me thats not worth inflicting pain on my innocent child. They have no idea why they are being hurt. They are confused as to why mommy or daddy is sitting there letting someone hurt them. I feel bad enough with them getting vaccines feeling pain and those are fairly important. I couldn't imagine how bad I would feel after something cosmetic.

When I was little my mom waited until I wanted them done, I actually always wanted them done, and I wished she did it when I was a baby like my friends parents had done. When I was 7ish I asked to get them done, I got them, but I wasnt careful with them, and I wouldnt let my mom clean them properly, they got infected, I had to take them out. This happened 3 times, they wasted so much money on my ears, I finally managed to keep them in when I was 13.
I got my daughters ears done when she was 18 months old, I cleaned them every day as directed and she had no problem with it, now they're perfectly healed and she can take them out later if she chooses. My daughter is very girly, and she loves her earrings, I don't regret my decision at all.
