Newly diagnosed...questioning doctor
So I majorly failed my 1hr glucose test yesterday with a 220...doctor said we skip the 3hr and go straight to checking blood sugars 4x a day and modifying diet. I asked to be referred to a dietician, which she said she will do at my 1 week visit next week, and then she told me to limit my daily carb intake to 50g in the meantime. That seems incredibly low to me since everything I’ve read says 150-175g of carbs per day for GD. I ate a normal dinner last night (about 45 carbs) and my fasting sugar was 87 this morning. No sugars over 100 so far today and I have definitely not been sticking to under 50 carbs- more like 30 for breakfast, 30 for lunch, 15 for snacks. Just wondering if anyone else thinks 50g is really low and also, what dietary recommendations were you given?
