Anyone here work as a lab animal tech?
I have an interview coming up for a lab animal tech position at a nearby university dealing with rodent colonies.
The job description was pretty basic, no mention of drawing bloods/getting samples but just cleaning cages, sanitization of instruments, etc. The ops manager I talked to did mention routine euthanasia too which wasnt on the online job description. I dont mind doing anything needed for the position as I am eager to learn but worried I am too "new" to the field.
I have worked with animals for nearly 8 years in daycare, grooming, and the last 1.5 yrs in clinic as a vet tech assistant. I havent learned much from my current clinic other than restraint, drawing up vaccines, and reading charts.
I just wanna know what a lab tech position fully entails? What is it like?
Thank you!
