Are you doing Genetic Testing?

I am torn about doing genetic testing. My husband and I are both healthy, there isn't history on my side, but we don't really know much about his family history. 
Is it harmful to the baby to have them done?

i Did a Blood Test, only because if the baby has down syndrome or anything else we wanna be prepared. We will love him regardless, but if anything was to come up we'd want to get ourselves educated to know what to do once he's born, if that makes sense  ..

We didn’t because we were afraid it would make us worry unnecessarily during my pregnancy. We’d love our baby no matter what

I'm a very worrisome person, so since my insurance covers it 100% we figured we would get the testing done for piece of mind. We want to be able to mentally and emotionally prepare ourselves if something was wrong and get educated. Also, we get to find out the gender early so thats a plus :) 
It's just an ultrasound and blood test so it doesn't harm the lil bean

We only did it because our insurance covered it. We would rather be prepared for something if something was different about baby. But we almost didn't do it because I really don't care what genetic defects baby might or might not have. It was just 2 blood tests & 1 ultrasound for the test.

There is no way it’s harmful to the baby, but it’s your decision... to my understanding a baby with trisomy doesn’t live long if at all.... so that’s all choices for your and your husband but it wouldn’t hurt the baby at all

I had genetic testing done that came back positive my daughter had turners syndrome. Had an amnio done a couple weeks after we got the news, then 4 weeks of waiting and she does NOT have turners syndrome. She has a full a complete set of chromosomes. All that worry for nothing. I’m now 34 weeks along with a very healthy baby 😊

I think doing the genetic testing is a decision you and your partner need to make. My husband and I opted out of it because we knew we would love the baby no matter what and the stress of knowing the entire pregnancy (basically) would be heartbreaking. At my 20 week ultrasound I ended up having to get genetic testing done because they found a cyst on baby girl and it can be an indicator for genetic abnormalities. Since they typically do a blood test now it is not harmful to the baby. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well :-)

My family had no history of genetic issues or even family health issues. But unfortunately my sister found out that two out of her three kids have a terminal genetic disease. Needless to say it was  a COMPLETE shock to everyone and so devastating. It was just the luck of the draw, her genes mixed with her husband's genes causing a mutation and the rest is history. My partner and I have since had genetic testing to find out if we are high or low risk for 400 known genetic disorders before we try for our baby . Thankfully we came back all low risk. 
Sadly it doesn't matter if your family alone doesn't have a history of issues, it comes down to the mix with your partner and recessive genes that and combine to devastate. 
Obviously the tests I've had done don't completely rule out issues, nothing can, but it has gone along way to easing my mind about having children. I've seen what my sister has had to go through and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. 
I believe any extra info on the health of any future children I may have is important, but I have seen the impact on my family when the unexpected happens. xxx

I did a Nuchal scan with all three of my pregnancies. The first one we had a bad result and it ended in a MMC though testing on bub showed there was nothing wrong.
Second one my results were perfect and I have a healthy toddler.
Currently pregnant for the third time. We had worrying results again, low Papp-a, and just did a CVS test on Thursday. The weekend is delaying our results.
The NTS is non invasive and consists of bloods and an ultrasound. The NIPT is a blood test.
Note that both only test for Trisomys 13, 18, & 21. Further testing is far more invasive and not recommended unless you’re high risk
