Positive induction stories?

FTM and due to a higher BMI (size 16/18 which I don't think is that big!) I have a sweep scheduled for 19th Feb, induction on the 25th with due date 26th. 
I was shocked as I always thought inductions were for going past your due date. Had a very smooth pregnancy, no health issues, had additional scans and told all is normal so still really don't understand the need for an induction. 
I was really hoping for a quick stay in hospital but after reading about inductions and hearing stories from others I'm really worried that this is going to end up being a long hospital stay ending in a c-section. My husband only has two weeks paternity leave and I don't want most of that time spent in hospital. 
Any positive induction stories? Needing reassurance that this is not going to be as awful as I think it will be

I was induced on my due date. I only had the gel put in and they couldn’t even do a proper sweep as I was 0cms dilated. Went into labour although was not aware as the midwives thought I was just being dramatic and didn’t check me. Dilated to 7cms in 5 hours. Gave birth 6 hours later and then went home xx

I would say that I don’t want the induction. If there is no reason other than BMI I personally would say no. I’d happily have the sweep but until I went over I would never have one unless there was a need to.
I am size 16 and my bmi says that I’m technically obese 🙄 I had a perfect pregnancy and easy peas no complications water birth. Had a sweep the wed before my due date, had my daughter three days early. 
You have a choice!! Unless they can give a VALID reason I would see if I go into labour naturally. Generally labour is shorter, easier and less complications when it’s natural. Everyone I know who has been induced has hated the whole experience. Trust your instincts mama! Good luck!!

What the others have said! I was a size 20 before pregnancy (although 5’ 11” so pretty tall) i had extra checks etc but no one even mentioned being induced early, even though I was projected to have a baby over ten pounds! I would refuse until around 41 weeks if everything is ok with baby. They are all different and some babies are cooked quicker than others. Ours came at 37 weeks- 8lb 4oz :)

I am also a size 16 and technically obese - though fortunately more people in the medical field are recognising the ridiculousness of this measurement as a stand alone indicator of problems. Obviously there are some general population trends which need to be heeded but this seems unusually aggressive. 
I have not been advised that my weight is a problem nor that I will be offered early induction. 
If you want the induction - go for it - I am planning to have a sweep at 40 weeks and then again as often as I’m allowed until 41 weeks when I will then try other methods of induction. (I read the nhs options at 41 weeks pamphlet online and decided this was the best route for me.) I have tried to avoid hearing birth stories for the most part as people seem to love going into the gory details and at this point I’d rather not know. However the pamphlet gives statistics of induction versus ‘natural’ labour and it doesn’t seem too terrible. 
If you’d rather not been induced then don’t be - it is completely your decision. Obviously if there are underlying conditions e.g pre-eclampsia or diabetes then follow advice and if baby is in distress, it becomes a medical decision. In your place I might seek another opinion if I were concerned about being induced too early.

Also I will add I was induced with my son at my request and I got out the day after he was born 😊

Okay first of all... You DO NOT have to do anything you don’t want. 
I am size 16 my BMI is classed as obese. My consultant has said she is more than happy for me to give birth at home or in an MLU if I wish to. 
Do you have any other medical conditions that would make them want to induce you? An induction purely on BMI is ridiculous

Can't you say no and that you want to go into labour naturally? Find out more info. And don't do anything you aren't comfortable with!
