So my fiancé and I have been engaged for over 2 years now and his parents KNEW we had planned on doing a destination wedding. We finally chose a date and paid the retainer fee (55% of the total) and now all of a sudden it’s a huge issue to them that we decided to do it this way because his parents can’t go. (His mom has MS and is wheelchair bound and refuses to go on a plane).

We were aware that they probably wouldn’t go and were actually thinking about doing a live stream so they could watch too and we are coming back home to do a big reception.

Because this will be a beach wedding and they have restrictions on glass, I was thinking of doing something special with them and asking them to join us for the sand ceremony at the reception instead. Would this be weird? I need thoughts.
