The Mother who Drinks...

Devon - 💙 3 Sweet Boys 💕 Baby Girl Feb 2021💕

I could use some advice...I'm 16 weeks pregnant & I have been a little stressed over a decision with my mom, especially with my third baby coming in July.

My mom has always drank wine. Lots of wine. I have drank wine with her over the years. As a younger adult, when I had no husband or children, we drank wine together and would watch chick flicks and make food and just have a great time together. Like close friends.

Well fast forward to my 30's, I met and married my husband and had two beautiful sons and now I am expecting my 3rd son. Over the past 5 years, for whatever her reasons are, she has become progressively more rude, aggressive and hateful to my husband and with her oppinions when she does visit and drink her wine at night at my home. Last March, while on a visit to my home, we both were drinking wine and she became rude and we got into a huge fight. She was screaming in my face with my children asleep upstairs and I basically kicked my own mother out of my home in the middle of the night. We did not speak for almost a year.

We finally started talking a little here and there and then I told her a couple weeks ago I am pregnant. She wants to come to visit again when the baby comes in July and I feel extremely nervous about this. I don't want her or anyone, including myself obviously, drinking in my home during this or any future visit to avoid ANY kind of repeat scenario.

How would you approach this if this were your mom? Would you call her before her visit and explain to her if she would like to drink on her visit, she can absolutely rent a hotel room nearby and visit with us during the day and evening and then retire to her hotel for the night or that she is welcome to stay in your home but there is no drinking in your house permitted by anyone?

I do not want anyone drinking in my home during this visit when we are bringing home our baby but I keep feeling like I'm acting like a parent to my mom by saying, "Now mom, no drinking allowed in my house!" Do you see what I mean?

How would you approach this & what would you say & how would you say it?

I really need some words here...🙄
