Heart Problems & Surgery
Sorry this is sorta a long story but if you’ve ever had heart problems or heart surgery please reply!!
When I was growing up I would often experience chest pain and shortness of breathe and would ignore it. Then my senior year of high school & really getting into my senior year of sports (mostly volleyball) I was running during a drill and dropped, I couldn’t breathe and I felt like I was having a heart attack. When I finally got home I told my parents and they weren’t surprised due to the fact my family has very bad heart health but growing up on a farm they told me to suck it up. Finally a month later we did a free heart screening that the high school was putting on and we got our results a month later & I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Regurgitation in December 2017. I went almost full year without having any major symptoms occur again. Then recently my heart has gotten so much worse, I’m constantly out of breathe, I can’t exercise for more than 30 seconds without feeling like I’m going to blackout, and if I’m lifting anything over 20lbs for more than a couple of minutes I can feel my heart start to give up on me. My pain scale is at least a 5/10 daily and my parents just wont listen to me when I tell them how much pain I’m in. So finally I made an appointment with my cardiologist and the soonest I can get in is Feb. 25th. I don’t want my parents to go with (I’m 18 almost 19) but I live at home so what they say still goes🙄 I know what the doctors going to say and i know that the chances of me having to have open heart surgery or valve repairment is very high. Have any of you had to go through this kind of pain daily and have any suggestions or ideas for pain relief and surgery??
