Dilating??

Question

Can I be dilating without having contractions? I've only had light-moderate period cramps and painful lightning crotch. Dr says I'm 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced .
Yes I know everyones different and I can be like this for weeks

I wish we can tell for absolute certain when contractions are occurring.  I was at a 2 last Monday and didnt think I've had any contractions. I cant tell what's what 😩

I been 1 cm dilated for 2 weeks already 😔😩 ...I am just waiting for my weekly appointment this Wednesday to see if I have made some progress. I am having period cramps sometimes, but then they stop. I just want to have my daughter already!!!! Just 14 more days to my due date.

I’m wondering similar things. I’ve been telling people that I haven’t really felt any contractions, just severe lightning crotch. 
Then I went to the doctor and discovered I’m 1.5 cm dilated. 
They must be connected somehow.

Those can be mild contractions that you are feeling. Mine are getting worse and worse
