I'm more of a walk away supporter than a hit back supporter. I get the whole "defend yourself" concept, I really do. But if you can get away, get away instead. I was in a situation with my ex husband once where he cornered me into a small room up against a wall and was threatening me, after he whipped the door open and smashed my arm bad. I "shoved" him... he is 6'1 and 250lbs.. I am 5'7 and was 115 lbs. He didn't even move. He shoved me so hard back that I slammed into the wall and hit my head and he knocked the wind out of me, and I collapsed. I couldn't have gotten away. He could have walked away and not cornered me.
Unpopular opinion I know.

It depends on the situation. If a woman is hitting a guy much bigger than her and not really physically harming him at all, it's absolutely warranted for the guy to lightly push her off just enough to defend himself. But it's not okay for him to just deck her, because with the differences in physical strength it's not the same at all as what she was doing.
There's a difference between defending yourself and fighting back, and it's not okay to physically fight back, especially when one person has such a physical advantage over the other.

I disagree. I don’t feel that anyone should hit anyone “back”. It’s always the best course of action to step away from the situation and seek safety. To engage with anyone in a physical manner just is a recipe for disaster.
