Short Cervix?

So ladies I need some insight. I guess my cervical length is 17mm. Anyone know what their cervical length is and what route of treatment has been used? I would greatly appreciate any insight you wonderful women may have!

Sorry to hear that! 17mm is definitely short. I think anything under 25 is considered short. There's a thing called a cerclage which is a stitch in your cervix to keep it closed...I think some women also take progesterone shots to keep it from getting shorter? But honestly I'm not sure. Your doctor will tell you! Good luck and hang in there!

I have an incompetent cervix and mine was about 40mm as of Wednesday last week. I am on progesterone injections to help prevent it from shortening. I have had 2 previous pre-term deliveries, one at 26 weeks and one at 36 weeks so I’m monitored by maternal fetal medicine. 17mm is very short for 1/2 way through pregnancy. I hope you are a candidate for a cerclage as that is probably your best option. Request a consultation with an MFM doctor if you haven’t talked with one yet to discuss options and what the best one is for you right now!

I was diagnosed with short cervix at 21 weeks. I am 22 weeks today. It was 2 cm and they did an emergent cerclage the same day. I had to choose between cerclage and progesterone and decided to take the more aggressive route. Not sure why they wouldn’t give me both but they said one or the other for me. Best of luck to you 💜
