How do they check on baby at normal prenatal visits??

My doctor said they do an initial dating ultrasound (which I have had) and a 20 week anatomy ultrasound. How do they check on the baby in the meantime?!? I have a prenatal visit in a couple weeks.. do they just assume all is well in there or what?!? 😕

They mostly check you and make sure you’re healthy.  They know how baby is growing based on fundal height and when you’re far enough, they can start listening to the heartbeat.

They just look at the heartbeat with a Doppler. They only look at the baby when you have a sonogram appointmern

It really only takes a couple of minutes at regular appointments.

My typical appointments started with a urine sample, weight and blood pressure. Then they would listen to the fetus’ heartbeat, and feel and measure my stomach. With all of that information they can get a good assessment of the health of the pregnancy. I only had two ultrasounds my entire pregnancy, it is unnecessary to do more.
