So I have a boyfriend and we’ve been going out for 11 months. Almost a year ! He’s really loving and caring. But here’s the thing : he tends to lie to me frequently and get my hopes up. For Xmas I bought him some expensive presents (over 200+) because I remembered he told me he’s always wanted them. I told him what I wanted and I didn’t get anything. Materialistic things don’t necessarily matter to me but what I found confusing is that he kept telling me before Xmas “you’re gonna LOVE WHAT I GOT YOUUUU” and would tease me. Now he wears his present around me but he made up some lie saying how my present “got lost in the mail” which I know is a lie because if it “got lost in the mail” how is he NOT freaking out about it or trying to find a way to get his money back ? I mentioned to him if he ever got his money back for my lost present and he said “oh I don’t know I haven’t checked, maybe.”

Point is, I don’t expect my boyfriend to buy me anything anymore because he promises me to buy me things (like schoolbooks, new shoes, or even to help pay my car) and never comes through. Is he being cheap or should I get used to buying myself everything I need ? (Which I’m fine with, just wanted to hear ppl’s thoughts).
