Weight loss for conception!

Cheryl

Hi everyone! I just figured I’d post some inspiration for everyone else out there getting their goals for conception!

In my first picture I was over 300 pounds. Probably around 302. That was feb. 2018. I was recovering from a dvt/PE caused by my birth control pill! While hospitalized with the swelling from my dvt I was well over 315 pounds. Doctors didn’t want to treat me. Didn’t care I was active. Blamed me not being active for my DVT and also didn’t dose my medication properly to give me relief.

I was so fed up with those judgements and people’s lack to treat me that after Disney at the end of March I reached a turning point.

People at work made fun of my weight. I couldn’t get doctors to take me seriously. But the biggest turning point was through all this my boyfriend moved in and we were having serious talks about having a baby. I realized I needed to take control if we wanted a safe and healthy pregnancy and if I wanted people to take me seriously when it came to medical treatment.

I downloaded ultimate food value diary started on a Friday and it’s a paid for a year subscription. It’s essentially weight watchers freestyle. I’ve followed it every holiday and every day since. My boyfriend is beyond supportive. We cook more eat out less. I still don’t hit the gym up as much as I like but I’m getting there.

Initially they had me on depo after my dvt/blood clot but that doctor left I found a new one who (regardless of the weight loss) told me how incredibly reckless the last doctor was for putting me on depo. My birth control option was an iud or nothing. After extensive talks with my boyfriend he knows he wants to marry me. We are both over 30 but under 35 so we decided the time is now. My last depo was June 2018. I regained my periods in October 2018. And we have been seriously trying to conceive since December 2018. No luck yet but I just think of each month as another month to make me a better baby incubator.

I’m still considered obese. I am 5’6” and weigh 210 pounds. I’ve lost 91 pounds so 30% of my body weight. Hoping I can hit 100 pounds in a year! I plan on being super strict if I get pregnant to prevent extra weight gain. I also have insulin resistance (but not PCOS or diabetes) so it’s super important to be strict with my eating.

Hope everyone enjoyed my story and the progression photos! If your struggling you can totally do it! Don’t give up!
