For a period of time I couldn’t walk my dog due to being chronically ill. I’ve been walking her again, but her nails are so long, especially her back dewclaws. They curl around. She’s a border collie.

She will absolutely not even let anyone near her nails. I can file them manually and she gets uneasy but let’s me do that if she sees me file mine first.

But they need a good cut, not file. I can’t get close to her with anything electronic that makes noise, and as soon as you grab her foot with anything in your hand, she freaks out and literally yelps.

I can otherwise touch & grab her paws and she’s fine, so it isn’t out of pain, just fear.

How can I manage this? I couldn’t take her to a professional because they’d get the same reaction from her, she bites nail clippers and I don’t want her hurting herself. I’m not sure what to do.
