Is anyone stressing over childcare?

The schools close to my home that offer infant care are all booked out a year in advance and the one we like costs a mortgage payment per month. I don’t know if I can justify that expense. I don’t have any close family that could help us. I’ve thought about hiring a nanny but it’s so hard to trust people these days!!

If I had to pay for childcare, I would opt for a nanny. The kids get a singular person and care in their own home. They will likely be sick less often due to not being surrounded by other children and you of course have many more options to put in cameras and other surveillance devices for peace of mind. And if you are flexible in what you offer, you may be able to keep the nanny employed for a number of years.

I was a nanny- loved it! You just have to interview and get references and do checks on the person! Same things can happen at a daycare. Have nanny at your house and have nanny cams!

I have a good job and still don't make enough to justify paying for daycare. Where I live daycare is $1500-$2000 a month. Plus I dont have a consistent schedule and work at 6am an hour from my house. THIS is why I'm not going back to work.

I have a 3.5 year old currently in daycare and pay an insane amount for it, almost $2k a month. But, the place is so incredible and I have never once questioned their abilities or the safety and happiness of my son. I’m started to panic about doubling that for my August baby but the overlap will only be a year. When I think about working versus staying home, I think about what I may be missing in terms of future income if I took a few years off like 401k benefits, stock, healthcare etc. I try to just remember it’s only a few years and then it’ll feel like I got a raise (lol I know this isn’t totally true but the lies we tell ourselves right?!)

Yes, not sure what we will end up doing. Both our parents work and my parents are too far anyway so not really an option. Still trying to figure it out. Good luck! Everyone always tells me everything falls into place when its time

I know the feeling. I just went back to work Jan 2nd from having  my 13 month old. Day care wanted $40 a day and enrolled everyday. Which I work at subway $14 an hour and don't work a constant scedual.  Also for holidays they wanted us to pay them even when closed. Luckily a few weeks before I went back to work my cuz offered her me her home day care services. She charges me $35 a day. Which includes picking up me and my son and dropping me off at work since I don't drive.  With my work scedual its end up being $35-105 a week.   Day Care they depending $200 a week wether or not we used them every day.  (It could have been that daycare that was the only.one available for the time I was available to go to work as others offer part time).
I really hope you can find a solution that works great for you and your family.
 I think once I return summer 2020 idk what I'm going do for work. I'll prob have to be stuck working nights (I hate nights, but asked for a few shifts a week currently to save on care) As $70-$80 a day for 2 for day care isn't feasible when I work a 6-8 hour shift earning $84-112 dollar that day at work.
