So confused - car seat & stroller but also a travel bassinet thing?

Ok, FTM here & im so confused lol 
My husband and I registered for a Chicco KeyFit 30Zip car seat & a jogger stroller that the Chicco can click into with an adaptor. 
However, I keep seeing women post about a bassinet car seat thing (2nd pic. sorry, i don’t know what they’re called) vs. the car seat. 
So my question is - is just the car seat on its own not enough?? Or does baby need the bassinet thing too? What’s the purpose of both if the car seat clicks into the stroller too?

Babies really shouldn’t be in their car seats for extended periods of time, especially if they are asleep. So if you are someone who likes to take long walks the bassinet attachment is preferred over the car seat as baby can lay flat which is not only safer but also more comfortable for baby.

Babies should sleep in car seats for long periods of time because of the incline. If you’re going to need baby in the stroller for a longer period, it’s better to use a bassinet attachment so they can lay flat.

We are getting this stroller bcuz the bassinet turns into the seat and I can use any Chicco car seat

Most strollers almost completely recline or the seat lays flat so after 2/3 months you can use that in almost the same way if you are wanting your kiddo to take a nap on a long walk etc. as long as you are fully  supervising.

I wouldn’t say you need the bassinet. I’ve seen them used, but very rarely. My guess is people get it if they want to be able to lay the baby flat & use the stroller. We have a travel system (like the one you registered for, just a different brand.) and it’s worked out fine for us. I guess another benefit to the bassinet is that you can zip the baby up all the way if it’s cold/sunny/wet out. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The baby doesn’t need the bassinet thing. The car seat will click into the stroller. It’s just another way to get another $200. If you like the bassinet style then maybe get it but the baby would only use it for maybe 2-3 months max. In my opinion I thought the bassinet attachments for strollers were super cute, but ultimately decided against it because it would be a waste of money for my family.

We got the Maxi Cosi Zelia 5-1 and we really love it and it's so light weight. We love how versatile it is,we use him bassinet quite a lot. I personally don't like the idea of him being in a car seat so long, if we as adults sometimes need a good stretch after being in the car, I can only imagine how uncomfortable a car seat might get for a baby and also it's not good for them. We got it in black, but there's a lot of colors.

I don’t know much about the bassinet thing, but I had the Ket Fit 30 seat and LOVEDDDD it along with the Chicco Viaro stroller that it clicks into. My son was able to sit in his stroller by about 3 months without the car seat. That wasn’t much help but yeah, I loved that travel set 🤣

You don NEED the bassinet, however if you registered for the Thule urban glide 2 it reclines fully back

I don’t really know about the second picture I have two kids and never used one of those....but yeah the car seat clicks in to the stroller.
