Space maintainer

My 8 year old goes tomorrow to have a space maintainer put on her tooth to hold the teeth open until her permenant tooth comes in, does anyone know if it will hurt during or after it's put in? She is sorta scared it will hurt. Let me add also, she had a tooth pulled 2 weeks ago due to it being abscessed and the space maintainer is to keep the hole open for the wait of her permenant tooth to come in, it's not to move teeth to make room for the permanant one.
