I think the text message you highlighted was just him asking for clarification about what your friend had said about letting it blow over, which honestly confused me too. I think he's saying he's definitely interested in getting to know you better with the prospect of dating.

They way I read this was “untill she doesn’t like me” statement was kind of made a little sarcasticly from your friends statement to let it blow over awhile like he’s afraid to wait to long in case you lose interest.

No, that looks like your friend was trying to tell him not to be weird about it or jump into it too fast and was maybe trying to go back on her accident of telling him. I think she was trying to down okay how much you like him so he wouldn't think it was weird. 
The guy, on the other hand, seemed to interpret that your friend was telling him to give you some time until you weren't so into him. However, because of the message he wrote just before that one "give it some time for what", it seems like he was just trying to figure out exactly what she meant. not that that was his plan.
