Holding your breath while pregnant?

So today at work something was burning and the smell quickly filled the building. I held my breath and ran to get outside. Just wondering if holding your breath will hurt the baby? Whenever I smell cigarette smoke etc.. just wondering if this is harmful?

Hello. No, it doesn’t do any harm at all for that long. It’s probably healthier than breathing in smoke. I do the same :) x

You’re not supposed to hold your breath for extended periods of time (ie you go diving deep down under water and hold your breath a long time). But something that quick I wouldn’t worry about! If you notice decreased fetal movement then by all means get checked, but you’re probably just fine ☺️
