CA ridiculous laws. Pay parent with no baby child support ???

I am the higher earner. I moved back with family from CA to MD. I have not been working since I moved back and had a baby in September. I am being told I may have to pay my ex child support (worst case scenario) bc I make more Han him. Yet I’m the single mom with the baby full time. Does this make any f****** sense ???? Oh and he left me for another woman while I was pregnant so he committed adultery and left me alone in a city I knew no one. But I’m still getting f****?

I start my new job March 4. And have a paycut from CA. His lazy ass doesn’t want to advance his career and make more $. He has potential to make more than me with his degrees.
