Induced?!

Can you mothers share your experience with being induced??

I went in October 16th at 8pm. I was already dilated 4 cm at my appointment earlier in the day. They started pitocin around 10pm. I started to feel mild contractions but nothing too strong. They told me after they break my water it would take about an hour to get my epidural. They broke my water and I was at a 7.  Got my epidural it was the best thing ever. Felt nothing at all. I slept mostly through the night. At 9am I was 10cm. They turned my epidural down and told me if I felt the urge to push to ring them and let them know. I still felt nothing. At 12:00pm (3hours later) they came in and said we had to start pushing. Nurse told me since it was my first baby it could take up to 3 hours to get my baby out. I started pushing and 37 minutes later my baby girl arrived!! I’ve heard some horror stories about induction. My labor and delivery was very easy and I was really lucky. But reminder I was at 4cm and 80 effaced. Everyone is different. Hope yours goes well

My induction went denently. I had cervidil put in the morning of oct 2 (37 weeks along) and at that point I was less than a finger dilated. By about 1pm I started feeling light contractions about every 12-17 min apart. Got worse over time. Was up every 5-17 minutes all night with contractions (about a 4 on pain scale). Morning of the 3, I went in and had cervidil taken out and had progressed to 3cm. I was sent home until a spot opened up at the hospital. By this point I was about a 6 on pain scale. At around 3 my water broke on its own. Back to hospital where pain was now a good 8 (couldn’t talk or do anything but breathe during contractions) and was still at 3cm. They gave me an epidural and pitocin by around 4:30. By 9, I was 10cm! Pushed from 9:50-10:08 and boom! Baby ☺️

I was admitted at 7:30 pm for my induction.  It probably was an hour and a half before they started anything.  We got settled and had paperwork to do.  Around 9, they inserted the balloon to stretch my cervix.  It wasn’t too bad.   Starting my IV was another story that took seven attempts before they got it.  Four different people sticking me.  That was pretty awful.  Low dose pit was started
Husband and I relaxed and tried to get some sleep   I was still able to get out of bed to go to the bathroom, but my husband had to help me unhook from all the monitors.  Peeing was interesting.  Lol.  Sometime in the middle of the night, the nurse checked me and the balloon was ready to come out.  I was at a four.  I slept off and on.  It’s hard to rest in a hospital.  I could only drink water and have jello or broth.  
Between 5 and 6, the doctor came in to check me. I was a five.  She broke my water.  Fluid was clear.  I tried to rest some more, and did. Around 7, I started feeling my contractions.  I woke my husband so he could
Comfort me through them. I started to walk around the room a bit and lean against him.  That helped, but baby kept coming off the monitor and I felt the nurses were annoyed when they had to come in to adjust the monitors and kept encouraging me to just stay in bed, which was uncomfortable.  
Around 8 or 9, the doctor for that day rounded.  He said we were making good progress, but wanted to put an internal monitors in.  They go on the baby’s head, but this meant I would have to stay in bed.  I wish I wouldn’t have agreed, in all honesty.  We talked about my pain management options, and he let me know I was approaching the point where I wouldn’t be able to get anything through the IV as they don’t wanna make the baby sleepy as delivery approaches.  
I continued to labor.  My birth team arrived.  Hubby went to get breakfast.  I had jello.  Eat the jello before you are actually hungry.  It isn’t really filling, and you can’t have much else.  Around 12:30, my contractions got intense.  I thought I was in transition.  The nurses came to check me a few times, and I was still a seven.  I was having a hard time focusing and breathing through them.  They were on top of each other.  I made my husband get the nurses again as I felt pressure.  Still a seven but they said I could go fast.  I felt sick.  I was hot.  I swore I was in transition.  I couldn’t handle the contractions anymore.  I couldn’t get comfortable.  The nurse reminded me I would still have to push and we didn’t know how long this could go on for.  I knew I couldn’t do hours like this, and asked for the epidural.  
I had the epidural within an hour.  My birth team had to leave the room  my BP dropped a bit and they backed off the pit to give the baby a break.  This was around 2 pm.  
When the doctor did rounds next, around 230, I had dilated to a nine.  I thought we would meet baby before dinner time.  We laughed.  We chatted.  I rested a bit.  Doctor checked me again around 4, still a nine.  I said, “so we only have a little bit to go?”   He said yes but it wasn’t just a little bit.  I sort of knew in that moment that I was going to end up with a c-section. 
For the next two hours, I moved every way the nurses asked trying to finish dilating.  They event put me over the squat bar.  Baby started misbehaving and dropping her heart rate.  She was no longer tolerating the pit, and my contractions weren’t getting any closer or more intense.  At around 6 or 630, the doctor came back.  Checked me.  Still a nine.  He told them to turn off the pit.  I was absolutely devastated.   I knew and started sobbing.  We talked about the section being bested for baby and how it was avoiding an emergency at this point.  I just kept crying.  I wanted a natural delivery without an epidural.  I hadn’t even wanted to be induced.  All my plans were absolutely crushed and the thing I was terrified of, the c-section, was a reality.  
I signed consent forms.  My husband got changed.  Everyone tried to comfort me while I sobbed.  I sobbed in the OR.   I basically cried through my entire surgery.  My daughter was delivered at 7:42 pm via c-section.  She cried as soon as her head was born.  The doctor told me she wouldn’t have come out no matter how long we waited as she got stuck behind my Pubic bone.  Her head was shaped odd in one spot from her trying to get through.  
I only share all of this not to scare you, not to wish the same fate on you, but because I always valued the moms on here who provided real, honest feedback on what an experience was like.  
My best advice, if you’ve read this far, eat a really good meal before you go in.  And eat throughout that day you go in.  I ended up not being able to eat for close to 36 hours and it was awful.  Take a water bottle with a straw.  Try to prepare yourself with your plan, but know things change. Ask questions about the plan for your induction. I knew what the plan was going in.

I had preeclampsia so I was in and out with high blood pressure. On my 37 week check up to the date I went into the office and they told me I was dilated 4.5 CM and to get to the hospital. That was at 8:40am. I went to the hospital around 10:00am and wasn’t given the pictocin until about 3:45. I had my epidural when I was 5CM around 1pm. Just so I would have it and it would be done. My daughter came at 10:47pm so I was in active labor from let’s say 4pm until she arrived at 10:47! :-) it was so easy. Hoping my next one is this easy minus in and out hospital scares with preeclampsia!

Mine was iffy i had contractions back to back thank God I had epidural barley felt them but my son's heart rate dropped almost had to have a C-section but thank God we stop the induction and let my body take over
