Help! Idk if I should take this NT Scan

id

Anyone have a similar situation? What did/would you do? Background: I had twins three years ago, so I was “high risk.” But even though I was high risk, I never had an NT Scan or saw a Perinatologist during that entire pregnancy.

This time around, my doctor has ordered an NT Scan ultrasound to be taken at their partnering Perinatologist office. So it’s unaffiliated with my routine care OB, but I was referred there for the test. They said I might be a candidate for Progesterone shots starting at 16 weeks due to premature membrane rupture at 29 weeks and premature birth at 31 weeks.

The scan will run me between $240 and $550 (applied towards deductible) depending on how the doctor bills it (as routine prenatal visit or separately). I was only high risk last time around due to carrying twins, this time it’s just one baby in there.

So my question is, is the scan worth taking or should I cancel it? Would this determine whether or not I need progesterone shots in the future? I don’t wanna just drop $550 if it’s not necessary.

Who would I even call to determine this? My OB or the Perinatologist office? And which department?
