WHY DONT THE DOCTORS WANT TO HELP ME

Question

I called my gynecologist when i found out i was pregnant and saw her so that i could get blood testing done. She gave me the contacts i need so that i can see a midwife at my local hospital. I dont trust my hospital because they dont help and let people die all the time. I thought okay im 8 weeks, time to call and make an appointment for an ultrasound for probably 10 weeks so that we can check to make sure that baby's growing and that im as far along as i think i am. THE MIDWIFE WONT SEE ME UNTIL 12 WEEKS 😡😡😡 and they wont do the first ultrasound until 20 weeks. WTF

Hospitals don't just intentionally let people die and not help people for starters. Secondly you aren't satisfied with your midwife then why not find another one? Have you asked why, have you expressed concern? Where I live it's normal to get an ultrasound at your first appt to confirm dates, then not get another until 20 weeks.

I think your over exaggerating just a bit. A lot of places confirm and don’t do an ultrasound until later. Also I’m sure a hospital wouldn’t intentionally let people die, if that was the case they would have been closed down.

Sounds normal to me. Not everyone gets special treatment. I’m high risk and got my first ultrasound at 8 weeks but that’s because I had just had a miscarriage right before getting pregnant again. But I only had about 3 or 4 ultrasounds my entire pregnancy, including the anatomy scan. A lot of places don’t see patients until 12 weeks as long as there is no bleeding, excruciating pain, or other symptoms that signal a problem. I’m 38 weeks today and still don’t see my doctor every week like most people do towards the end. I still only go once a month 🤷🏼‍♀️ if you’re not happy, find a new doctor. If you can’t find a new doctor, you’ll just have to deal with it.

A lot of places don't do the first U/S until 20 weeks because of insurance purposes. Insurance typically only covers one and they are very expensive. 
If you don't think your midwife isn't helping you then find a new one, but you're probably going to hear the same thing from the new one too. Also I hope you never have to visit your ER if you think the doctors just let people die there, which they legally and morally can't do.

It can be super frustrating cause you wanna see your baby and make sure everything is alright. It's standard for midwifes not to do ultrasounds until 20 weeks though. I believe a midwife can send you somewhere else to get an ultrasound earlier if you request it. I saw a regular obgyn before switching to a midwife so I got my ultrasound at 12 weeks, they made me wait too. If there's a planned parenthood in your area they may be able to offer you an early ultrasound. We have a pregnancy center where I live and they have a pop up clinic where they offer free ultrasounds as well.
