Finger prick tests during pregnancy

So for my genetic testing for the baby my doctors did a finger prick test...let me tell you this was not a finger “prick.” This hurt so bad I almost fell over. Then I had a stinging tender feeling in my finger for 2 and a half months following it like it hit a nerve or something. I have never had my finger pricked before this and I have no idea if the girl who did it just really messed it up. I have sliced my finger open bad with knives from cooking that have hurt less and healed better than this finger “prick.” Now I’m supposed to have another one done for the gestational diabetes test. I feel like I have PTSD from it or something and am absolutely terrified, so I requested to get sent to a lab for normal blood draw and my doctors office is making me feel bad like I’m crazy or something for wanting to do that instead. I don’t know if they always hurt like this or if I just had one bad experience but I’m legitimately scared to ever have that done again now.
