I know many married couples are who have been married for years and don't share money. They each have their own bank account and a joint account they put money in for bills, groceries, etc.

My bf and I are currently just dating so it’s our own money right now. I’m sure in the future we’ll have a joint bank account though

It's our money, and has been since we started living together. We don't question every single cent we spend on ourselves though (as long it's within reason). We make sure our expenses are paid, that there's enough left for groceries for the month, and then the rest is up to us to do with as we please.

For us we have our money as well as our own money. Most of the money is ours and is a joint bank account but we also have our own separate bank accounts that we can use for purchases that don’t involve the other person. For example he buys  video games with his money because I don’t play them, and I buy clothes with my money because he doesn’t wear them

It's both our money and his own money. Of course when he's working and gets the salary it's his money. It's our money when we need to pay rents and other things.

We only have one bank account that is shared, and we have an arrangement that if we spend over $200 we ask one another first, although we usually know when the other has bought something anyways so it doesn't really matter. And for gift giving events (birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries etc) we set a budget for what we will spend.

Dating but have a baby together, we made a joint a bank account when we first found out I was pregnant. He’s currently the only one with a job but it’s still “our money” since I contributed over $2k to our daughter while he was too busy with school last semester to work. With that being said if we spend over $50 we have to tell the other person about it before hand, if we spend $100+ we have to ask the other person before purchasing. 
He does keep $50 from each paycheck and puts it in his own savings account but I think that’s fair because it’s a tiny amount, we don’t buy / need much besides groceries and gas. So we are pretty much just stock piling money together for a “rainy day” (knock on wood haven’t had one yet) or just saving. He’s mainly saving his money for computer parts or for maintenance on his Camaro.  
Our next step is a joint credit card but we are trying to post pone that because once again he probably won’t be able to work again after next fall semester (date an engineer and I swear you’ll never see them lol) so I will be finding work, hopefully by next spring we are able to open a joint credit account and use it for $50 a month for gas only.
