Can I request to check dilation?

Can the nurses refuse to check if I ask?
Also I’m almost 37 weeks. I’ve been at at 2 since 34 weeks. I know the checks are pointless but I want to get checked 🤷🏽‍♀️

There’s no point of cervical checks because you can be dilated for weeks before labor. I was 2 cm at 32 weeks and went into labor at 37 weeks.

Yes to both. My doctor said no until 36 weeks because it can cause infection and can stimulate labor. You don't want to start labor too early and obviously don't want infections. I didn't ask him to check before 36, just asked when he would begin checking and when I was having some issues before then, he said he wouldn't check because of the risks.
