Baby Was Coming Out During Epidural!!!

My birth story is a little over two years old, but I still wanted to share! Our son was due 1/18/17. On 12/29/16 (my mom’s birthday) we were told I would be scheduled for an induction the following week at 38 weeks due to IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction). Doctor told me to come in on 1/4/17 at 10pm to check-in. My doctor stated that most inductions take 48-72 hours, so she was trying to time it so that she could come and deliver the baby.

Well must’ve been a full moon that night (can’t remember) but all of the labor and delivery rooms were occupied and we had to wait for one to be cleared and cleaned. We finally got into a room at midnight. After paperwork, meeting with my nurse, the anesthesiologist, and a resident, the process began at about 2am. A cooks balloon was placed to help me dilate and soften. The catheter style balloon is filled with saline and placed for 12 hours. At the same time pitocin and fluids were

started. I was able to get a few hours of sleep but the balloon was somewhat painful.

Morning comes and I’m doing fine pain wise. I was given Tylenol periodically just to help take the edge off. My husband is an Air Force veteran. He had appointments scheduled for months. Since the doctor told us it would be at least 48 hours, we agreed it be okay for him to still go and to make sure our dog was okay. I had plenty of company. My two sisters and godmother were there. At 2pm I’m checked and I’m 5.5 centimeters! The balloon is taken out. Instant relief! The doctor says don’t be surprised if I’m stuck at 5.5 for a while and that’s it’s very normal for an induction. About an hour later the doctor comes in and breaks my water. That’s when all hell broke loose! Lol.

My husband arrives and he’s in total confusion because he was on FaceTime with me 30 minutes before and I was perfectly fine. The contractions were unbearable and coming every 2-3 minutes. At this point I’m begging for an epidural! Just my luck that they were tied up with other patients. Finally after what seems like a million minutes (lol). The anesthesiologist and his team come in. I’m hunched over and about to get numbed and I feel like I’ve gotta poop. The nurse looks at me and she’s like you’re pushing. I’m like no I just have to poop. I grunt again she’s like no you’re pushing. She hits the call button and the SWAT TEAM (lol) comes in. They lay me back and my son’s head is literally coming out. No mind you they kicked out my husband for the epidural and told him and my family to come back in 30 minutes.

At this point I’m freaking out because everything is happening so fast and I don’t know where my husband is. I yell SOMEONE FIND MY HUSBAND! Luckily he was only in the lobby and runs in the room when one of the nurses goes to look for him. I start pushing and what do you know...I take the most massive 💩 on the delivery table. By far the most embarrassing moment of my life to 💩 in front of about 10 people. Once that’s cleared I start pushing again and I instantly feel the ring of 🔥. I yell IT BURNS! They all say back in unison WE KNOW! (Smh lol) Three pushes later my baby boy comes out. He scared the mess outta me at first because he didn’t come out crying...he just looked around. Lol. The most perfect 5 pound 12 ounces, 19 inches long gift I’ve ever seen. I had to get about 5 stitches for a minor tear. Other than that everything was beautiful.
