How to dye hair?

So I’ve balayaged my hair at the salon and although I wanted to get a colour toner there, I chose not to because it’s just so darn expensive. I can’t find any good tutorials on how to colour hair with a colour toner, or what toner to even use...If someone could help me with this, I’d love you forever! Btw, picture attached is me with the balayage the day it was done. Hairstylist said it should go lighter in a few weeks...

I suggest you get it done by a professional. By doing things yourself, you take a high chance at ruining your hair and then that you cost even more to get fixed and treated. 
Yes it’s a little more costly but it’s worth it. I’d rather pay my $250-300 than ruin my hair
