Should there be punishment for filming someone without their consent and posting it on social media?
I'm sure we have all seen viral videos of people's embarrassing moments. Someone not using gym equipment right, someone overweight using a cart at a store, a fight in the parking lot, so on and so forth. Should there be stricter punishments for the person who filmed the video and these negative videos of people go viral?
I admit I myself have laughed or was shocked at some. I never thought much of it until today.
A parent of a child who went to the other location of the special needs school posted the following on Facebook.
"My worst fear came true today. I'm just counting down the days until I see a viral video of me and *****" her son is 13 with severe Autism. While at a store he had a melt down and began to scream, cuss, spit at her, and throw things. He has been hospitalized 7x for his behavior, has an extremely low IQ, and many health problems. But, no one sees that, they see an out of control 13yo.
During his tantrum 2 people pulled out phones and took video. If this video was to be posted and go viral, or posted at all where she could find it, should there be stronger legal action taken against the poster? What if anything should be done in these situations?
