MIL says she won’t come meet the baby
This will be our first baby and her first grandchild and she says she’ll wait until we bring the baby to her. A year ago she retired to the east coast after raising her kids on the west coast for 20+ years. She left with very negative feelings towards the west coast- she’s from the east coast originally and she’s been missing it. She asked us to move with her. We tried it for a few months but it was too different for us (we both grew up on the west coast) and we moved back to the west coast a couple months ago. Right after we moved back we found out I’m pregnant! I’m due early September and my MIL is saying she won’t come to the west coast to meet the baby. She can’t come in September because she’s going to Italy, we said that’s fine, come in October, come in November, come in December! She says no, she’ll wait until we bring the baby to her. And she keeps saying things like, “I don’t know how anyone would want to raise their kids there” when she raised her own kids here! Plus my parents, my siblings, and my father in law all live within 20 mins of our new apartment. I think she’s just still mad that we didn’t like living on the east coast but shouldn’t she get over it and plan a trip to meet her first grandkid? Btw she has the physical and financial means to travel. Whereas we will have an infant, two dogs and our jobs, so traveling will be very difficult for us.
