My MIL thinks I’ll be birthing a giga baby
Despite the fact my baby is right on track in growth, doctor “expects an average sized baby, maybe 7-ish lbs”, and everyone says I look great (belly right on track too), my MIL seems absolutely convinced that my baby is gonna be huge.
I don’t get it. She and my mom both had 7 lb babies. It is so likely my baby will be of a fairly average size too all factors considered. And yet she’s always giving me shit for having bought newborn sized stuff or diapers, or really anything! I bought clearance winter clothes sized 9 months because my baby will be 9 months at the end of December so I figure give or take a few months it will surely be cold. And she’s like “my neighbors daughters son was wearing 9 month clothing at 2 months old”. She looked at my diaper setup - I opened ONE bag of newborn diapers that go up to 10 lbs, knowing Id at least get through 2 weeks with newborn diapers, and she’s like “these don’t look like they would fit”. she tells me not to buy newborn stuff. I bought 4 sleepers and a few onesies and she’s like “he will never wear that”. The 0-3 month stuff looks huge! So what if he fits it for only 2-3 weeks! I’d rather he not fit it at all than have to run to Walmart for newborn sized stuff with a two day old baby that’s swimming in all this clothes! I feel like my MIL would only not judge me if I said “yep, I only have 9 month onesies because clearly he’s coming out 28 inches long and 17 lbs”. I dunno if her random friends’ grandchildren are unusually large, or if she doesn’t remember anything about babies after 24 years.
Idk I’m a crabby pregnant lady
