Cervical Mucus

Those of you who check cervical mucus... is it a good idea to check it the day after intercourse? If we have sex close to expected ovulation, I can’t tell if the cervical mucus is egg white, or if it’s just leftover semen hanging out. This probably seems like a silly question, but I’ve wondered this for some time now!
