Lexapro? Emetophobia and anxiety

So I have severe anxiety and emetophobia that prevents me from leaving my home, eating, being eith friends and enjoying life. I suffered for years and it just got worse and worse until finally I reached out for professional help. My psychiatrist prescribed me lexapro and I've been taking it consistently for 4 weeks now and haven't noticed a change in my anxiety yet. Anyone have experience with this drug?

I couldn't  take Lexapro. It really killed my stomach. I wasn't  able to eat anything.  I've  tried Celexa for over a year and Zoloft. I really recommend Celexa. It seems like the best fit. I'm currently on Zoloft and Buspar

I use lexapro and it really helped me. I have to be on 20 mg because 10 wasn’t enough for me. It helped within two weeks though. Everyone is different so if it’s not working it might be time to change it.

Not myself personally, but my mom has been taking lexapro for a long time. She used to get really manic and angry where she would clench her fists and jaw. She’s seemed so much more calm and collected since being on it for years now.

I’m on lexapro currently. It took me about six weeks to notice a decrease in my anxiety. My doctor only prescribed me 5 mg because I’m very small and don’t need a high dosage. I’ve been on it for a year exactly now and my anxiety is 100x better than it was before i started. I still have some moments of panic, but my constant anxiety has definitely gotten better.
In short — give it time (but not too much). If you don’t notice a change in about two more weeks (maximum), try contacting your doctor and seeing if you could try another medication. Typically, anxiety meds can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to reach their peak action and begin making a difference. All medications work differently for different people 🙂 best of luck!
