Phobia of needles 😩

Samantha • Mommy to my rainbow, Owen 7.25.19😍🌈

Ughhh I'm sure I'm not alone in this so just had to vent lol! I have such intense anxiety related to having my blood drawn, I did the first trimester panel and made it through that only getting faint towards the end. Then of course my luck, the dr said the lab didn't run one of the tests they were supposed to (the CBC) so I am needing to go back for that before my next visit...I went to go today and spent 30 min outside the lab having anxiety then just cried on my way home because I couldn't mentally talk myself into it. Logically I know it will take like 5 mins because this one is way less than the panel...but anxiety is a heck of a thing! 😭😩I'm going to try to go first thing in the morning and get it done! 🤞🏻I've had so many friends say pregnancy should get me over my needle fear but nope that has not been the case so far 😂...just doing it for this sweet little boy ❤️

I'm the same and I did 2 rounds of IVF u would think that would cure me! No every time I get blood done I panic so much all my blood rushes back to my major organs and they can't get it out!! 😷 One nurse told me this and said if I make sure to drink loads of water before then it comes out quicker and makes finding a vein easier! She gave me water and talked to me to calm me down and it worked! Next time I did the same and chatted nervously non stop and had 4 vials taken and I was fine! TRY it next time and see if it helps u too xxx

for my 1st round of IVF my pregnancy blood test she just could not find a vein! She was wiggling it around I had to tell her to stop for a bit or i would faint. Try other arm same thing in the end I did some star jumps and then lay down to have it taken and eventually it worked 😷 bad day! For my next round I did a home pregnancy test 1st so I wouldn't be such a nervous wreck! 😂 it worked coz it was positive and I was so happy i didn't care what she did to me! haha Xxxx

Oh gosh the same thing happens to me, after a certain point the blood just stops coming out 🤢for my panel she had to do both arms but it happened both times...I think it's just the anxiety like you said!! ❤️

I have a horrible time with bloodwork, so bad that all 3 of my pregnancies I didn’t get any drawn until I was in labor 😐 what a wimp! But the last labor didn’t go as well and I needed to get poked a lot so I realized what makes it so much easier!!! Ask the doc to let you lie down while getting the bloodwork and let you lie there for a while after, until you feel ready to get up. It actually didn’t bother me at all! Hope this helps! 🙂

Aww, you're not a wimp at all!! A phobia is a phobia, it's hard to work through but that's so amazing you found something that works for you to be able to tolerate it! 🙌🏻🙌🏻😍❤️

Thank you everyone who reached out and made me feel a little better, it's nice to know I'm not alone!! I went back this morning and was able to do it!! They had to draw from my hand because they couldn't find a vein in either arm but the tech used the smallest needle and was so sweet!

My husband has to take me to the blood test appointments - I either go into shock or faint, so I lay down and don’t drive after. I find having him there helps, he’s so calm and understanding! I don’t have any advice but I put headphones in sometimes, wear a hoody like a blanket and turn my head the other way. Good luck mama! You’re definitely not alone in this struggle!

I have a serious fear of needles. I’ve had to get my blood drawn 5 times during this process and received two IVs. It doesn’t get easier and didn’t help that I was super dehydrated for each of them. They had the worst time trying to find my veins. Everyone says I better get used to it but it doesn’t make it any easier. I will do whatever it takes to make sure baby boy is ok!

I have the same problem. I get so worked up I have passed out. What I have done to help it is I tell them I just need to talk the whole time to them. When I hold a conversation the whole time it keeps my mind busy.

Thank you so much!! I will do that, I just have to try my hardest not to think about it and do it first thing in the morning so I don't have all day to psych myself out about it 😂

Yes I usually let them know that I freak out about it but so far this pregnancy I have been good. Just try holding a conversation with them the whole time
