I babysit 2 girls, one is 4, and the other is 1 1/2 and I am 32 weeks pregnant. I watch them 5 days a week for more than 8 hours & I am paid $100 a week. The initial agreement was that I would have them Monday-Thursday 7:30-3:30. But since watching them the parents have not picked up on time & I am sometimes left with the girls until 5 pm with no explanation or even a heads up text from the parents! Also, they have changed it to 5 days a week instead of the 4 days we agreed on at first. I stay at home as it is so it’s not like I have somewhere to be but my husband thinks they are ripping me off & taking advantage of me. I feel like I should ask for a slight raise or something but I don’t want to come off rude or demanding. Honestly I don’t even know if that’s the right thing to do... I should mention that I have years of experience working in a daycare & I have all my certifications (fingerprint card, CPR/First Aid) so I am a very qualified babysitter, I have all my paperwork in the right place. What should I do? What should I say to them?

You guys are so nice! I fully expected to get yelled at & for tons of people to stick up for their parents😭😭😭 the whole reason I started at $100 a week was because they were just divorced & having some troubles with money. I believe in good karma! If I ever needed help I’d hope someone would help me like this too. Lots of you are saying it was a really low rate to begin with and that is why, I was trying to be understanding & give them room to get back on their feet.
