Were you tested routinely for toxoplasmosis during pregnancy?

I’m currently 30 weeks pregnant. I have 2 indoor cats. I know the doctor advised to not change the litter box but otherwise I have spent this pregnancy around other people’s cats petting them and even getting scratched by a few and I never really thought twice about it. My doctor never recommended testing for it. Is this something that usually isn’t tested for unless you have an issue? Should I ask to be tested?

My Dr ordered a blood test along with all the other bloodwork at the beginning of my pregnancy, but that was it.

If you have had a cat for a long time you likely already have them in your system from exposure to cat feces. They are not harmful and don’t cause any issues/symptoms in people with healthy immune systems. It is only a problem if you get a new infection while pregnant.  Avoiding changing the litter is a precaution but most likely unnecessary.  I wouldn’t worry.

No, just the first blood test, but they also found out I’m immune to it so no point in testing more times.  I’m sure that if there was a high possibility of getting it, they would test more.
