Overweight and pregnant positive stories

Hi all,

I’m 5 weeks pregnant after using Clomid while seeing a fertility specialist. I am overweight 5 ft 5 and 115 kg (Approx, I haven’t weight myself in a few months) and have PCOS which makes it super hard to lose weight. I am very active and do lots of walking and gym classes. I am a vegetarian and we eat healthy meals (most of the time).

Long story short, I am quite an anxious person and today have slipped into heaps of articles about all the dangers of weight.

I have tried to lose weight my entire life! My first diet was at 6 years old and I think I’ve given all the diets a go. I lose weight, it comes back, I plateau etc etc. Recently, I’m trying to embrace the “intuitive eating” movement and doing exercise because I love my body not because I hate it. It’s been fantastic! And I feel better physically and mentally. I am eating extremely healthy since I found out about bubs & making sure I am getting all the vitamins she needs.

BUT... I’m obviously still fat and now pregnant (while having pcos). So, can people please post their positive pregnancy stories when in a similar situation?

I’m 5’1 and was 77kg when I got pregnant. So far 23 weeks and doing well (have gained 4kg). I’ve been doing my best to not gain an excessive amount of weight but also know it will happen (baby LOVES carbs lol). The hardest part for me was switching my mindset from calorie counting to lose weight and calorie counting to ensure healthy weight gain! Many overweight women have healthy babies so I wouldn’t worry to much!

Plus size pregnancy is a great resource! Also the bugfatscience blog. But as long as you eat well and stay active your pregnancy will hopefully run smoothlu

I’m fat and having my second baby. My first pregnancy was a plain normal pregnancy nothing different happened because I was fat everything was straight forward. I did end up having an emergency csection at delivery but That was because of his heart rate dipping too much. Just be careful as to what you’re putting in your body food and drink wise and you will be absolutely fine. Don’t be worrying about weight, it is what it is. Enjoy your pregnancy. Good luck 😉

I've always been underweight or close to myself, so I can't share any personal experience. But I can tell you that I know a few friends who are overweight and who had a healthy and fine pregnancy. One of my friends might even have had a better and easier one than I'm having at this point 😅The weight can be an indication of how the body is, but how you feel is way more important. Eat healthy and stay active and enjoy your pregnancy!I'm sure you totally got this!
