Rock n play??

Question

I want to get a rock n play so bad. I’ve heard a lot of negative things like their baby developed a flat head or it made their baby not to want to sleep in a crib. Can someone please comment on this and tell me your experience with one of these?

The rock and play saved my life. My twins loved it, the rock and Play was the only thing that would calm them down. They took their naps in them sometime they slept over night in them. When it was time for them to sleep in their cribs they had not probably transitioning. 
They are super easy to fold up and bring to friends and family’s houses. 
I tell everybody that they are amazing and every baby shower I go to I plan on buying one every time.

These start really horrible sleep habits and it says right on the box that babies shouldn't be sleeping in them unassisted. I avoided them like the plague (along with swings and bouncers. We never bought any of it).

My son slept in one overnight from birth through like 15 weeks. He had such horrible reflux that it helped his little tummy. We didnt have him rocking in it when he slept, so he had no trouble transitioning to the crib. It was a lifesaver for us.

I only used mine if I was doing something like cooking dinner & I needed a place to put my baby. I’d put her in it in the kitchen so she could see me, but wasn’t on me while I was preoccupied.

I'm learning from first baby. This baby will only be allowed naps during the day but no overnights. I ended up screwing up our daughters alignment by letting her be in overnights and had to do physical therapy exercises to correct it. She also had a lot of transitioning from sleeping in that overnight to her pack n play. I would only suggest day use but no overnights.

Best baby purchase! Both my kids used one, loved it, and neither have a flat head. My daughter only napped in hers and my son slept in it overnight for months due to reflux. My son slept right next to me so I didn’t have any safety concerns. I however wouldn’t do both naps and overnight in them. If your baby lays too much in the same position they will develop a flat head regardless on where they lay in.

They shouldn’t be used for overnight sleep. Supervised Naps are fine. My son wouldn’t even go in his. He would just cry in it. He used his swing everyday and pack n play for naps and overnight

With my daughter I used it for her naps and to sleep in it overnight for the first 2 months. I know people say it’s dangerous but I would’ve not been able to sleep at all and would’ve gone insane not to mention I have a toddler that I needed to care for. When we would go places I’d take it with me and she could take her full naps without a problem. When I finally decided to transition her to her crib she cried for the first 2 days for like 10 minutes but got used to it pretty quickly. Not a big problem for us and I’m so happy I had it. Also I had to replace the motor once and i called their customer service they overnighted the part and i had it at my doorstep for free the next morning. So that’s a major plus since she couldn’t nap without it. I recommend it at your discretion though do your research it’s not recommended for sleeping at night.

Babies would only develop a flat head in it if they are spending too much time in it. Your baby isn’t meant to spends its life in one. Some moms don’t get that and literally just let the baby lay in it all day and that’s when the problems occur. But as long as you let baby out to play on his tummy for tummy time several times a day, pick him up and play with him, etc it should be fine. :) 
I used it with my baby after he was born because I had a csection and my husband deployed. So I had no help. I would lay baby in there while I showered, did dishes, went to the bathroom, etc. But he was always in my supervision. It was great because it was light so I could move it room to room and he could hang out and see me wherever we were, and I didn’t have to pack him all day because that was hard after my surgery. I would only let him be in it for 30/40 minutes at most though (unless he was napping. But I never let him sleep in it overnight). After the 30 minutes I’d get him out and we’d go for a walk in our baby carrier or do tummy time, etc.

My son slept in it for the first 4 months and the. We transitioned to his crib. He had really bad acid reflux so it helped to keep him from choking in the middle of the night.
