Hi all!

I went to my doctor yesterday and my psychologist told me to mention to him my trouble sleeping relating to my anxiety.

He prescribed melatonin, but to my surprise he also prescribed Valium. (2mg, thirty tablets). He said he doesn’t mind prescribing Valium to people seeking psychology until the therapy starts working.

His explanation of when to take the Valium wasn’t very strong, and I’m a little confused. I was told by the pharmacist that I can’t drive or work when I’m taking it - but I work full time.

Has the dr prescribed me this as an emergency med (as in to take when I have an anxiety attack?) I don’t think so as it was prescribed in the context of me asking about my poor sleep.

Or is he intending me to take it at night with the melatonin? Will I be able to drive and work in the morning if I take it?

My main problem is waking multiple times in the night with anxiety - but if I take the Valium when I awaken it will surely still be kicking by the time I have to leave for work.
