Do you bring toys to daycare?

My son starts daycare today 😭😭 
His fav toy his his little crinkle book. Should I not pack it with him in case it gets lost with the other toys I assume will be there? Or should I pack it to help him with something familiar?

I wouldn’t. When I was in high school parents would bring in sentimental things (like a baby blanket a family member made). Then they’d get upset if it got lost or ruined. Don’t bring things you wouldn’t want lost or ruined.

I’d be worried that it would get mixed in with the other toys and you’ll never see it again. I wouldn’t send a favourite anything to a place with a bunch of other toys!

I worked in daycares for close to 10 years and none of the facilities I worked in allowed outside toys. And I personally wouldn't suggest sending your own toys either way.

Our daycare allows us to bring a comfort item for them to sleep with as long as it doesn’t have any choking hazards. Other than that, they don’t want us bringing any toys. They have tons of them there that the clean daily and don’t want to have to clean ours as well. They also don’t want them to get lost in all the other toys.

I’d ask the daycare. My current daycare requested he bring a familiar toy from home to keep there for naps and comfort, not his favorite toy but something he liked. My previous daycare preferred we not bring one and instead he found a favorite toy there he loved on the whole day.

I would not pack it. Often toys from home are not allowed in a daycare center. And if they are, they tend to cause problems. A small family picture or something of that nature would be fine.

It depends on the daycare. Some may not allow outside toys. We take our son to an in-home daycare and sometimes send his stuffed dog with him for comfort.
