Calling in sick..

I texted my boss to let him know I won’t be making it today, because I’m not feeling well. I texted him around 10am, and I am supposed to go into work at 1pm. He still hasn’t replied, and I’m worried he won’t see the message until it’s too late to have someone take my shift, or until the time I’m supposed to be there. Should I just try to go in anyways? Or not worry about it since I did message him after all..

EDIT: At my job we never call. The only time I have talked on the phone with anyone was to set up my interview, and then again when I got the job. We all have a group chat, and that’s what we always use for everything. So in my circumstance, I think a text was appropriate.
