HELP! Time to wean? 😭

I feel like I’ve hit the end of nursing my almost 16 month old. Lately she’s been biting my nipple so hard on purpose and laughs. I’ve tried everything. Saying “no biting” firmly, putting her into her crib to cry and think about what she did. Everything! I was hoping to continue on for a little while longer, because it’s our special bonding time, but I don’t know if I can if it continues like this. It makes me ill that nursing has turned into this awful experience. I’m also 9 weeks pregnant so that’s not making matters any easier.

We’re in exact same boat. I’m pregnant and still breastfeed but if I don’t give her my boob she goes insane cries, hits, and won’t give up until she gets the boob. I honestly don’t know what to do either because I love the bonding time but it’s getting hard.

Oh my gosh, this is exactly what my girl is doing as well! Telling her, "No biting Mommy!" and setting her down will make her upset...but it doesn't seem to do anything to teach her a lesson. If my husband is there when she bites me, she immediately looks around to try to make eye contact and smile at him!!! She wants to share a laugh with Papa at the expense of Mommy. Sigh. Thank you for posting this--I'm so glad to hear that you're in the same boat. I'm sorry you're going through this; I wish I could be more helpful, but I wanted to say that you're not alone. I don't know how much longer I can do it, either.

My son is sticking his finger in my bellybutton, it is driving me nuts? Could it be your milk drying up, since you are pregnant and maybe she is not getting as much, so she bites?

Ughhh that sucks. How often are you nursing? It could be because she's teething or she's not actually hungry.

My son was doing that at about a year. I had wanted to get pregnant and wasn’t able to get pregnant while breastfeeding. So I started to cut his milk time down to only once at night, the next week I cut him off altogether. Kept a bottle of water close at night. And then he was weaned. I am 10 weeks pregnant next week and I’ve had a few times where I’m just like I wish I could feed him. But I obviously can’t so only do it if you really want to. I will say losing the bonding time stinks but thankfully I’m a stay at home mom so I am always able to be with him. Good luck! I hope to breastfeed my next longer.

I’m with you! My daughter has just been incessant about it at night lately and I’m so ready to at least do night weaning. We are down to only like two nursing sessions during the day on average unless she’s having a rough day or sick. She does sooo many annoying things while nursing (sticking hands down my shirt, pinching my neck...) that I’m just ready to call it quits. But it’s gonna be hard for her and I will miss bonding time too despite all her annoying habits lately!!
