Gas drops?

My LO is formula fed and has trouble pooping and is really gassy . We were giving him enfamil gentlease but was told by his dr to use enfamil infant because it has more lactose and should help him poop more. He also told us we can try gas drops but do those even work?

I don’t believe the gas drops help at all with the pooping it’ll just help relieve tummy pain from gas. My 3 week old is formula fed and we noticed right around 2 weeks she starting getting gassy and had a hard time pooping (started noticing turd nuggets even though they were still soft but definitely not regular baby poop). Our doctor suggested both gas drops for her tummy pain (she’d arch her back a lot about 30 min after eating and you could tell had gas) as well as prune juice for constipation. The prune juice she said had to be no sugar added, not from concentrate but we could give her 1/2oz up to twice daily. She said it was totally fine giving it to her straight and that we didn’t need to dilute it or put it in her formula. We’ve been doing this every day for over a week and my daughter is back to being a happy, less gassy, regular pooping baby.

So we just switched completely from breast milk to similac 2 days ago. l mixed BM/formula for 2 days to transition but she is definitely 10x gassier with formula. With breastmilk should would poop literally every time she passed gas. Yesterday she didn’t poop all day and was screaming in pain by nighttime. We are rotating gripe water and gas drops and finally she pooped a lot overnight! I’m not sure if it was the gas drops, gripe water, or just some time for her little belly to adjust but she seems much more content now.

Gas drops worked for us for our guy’s gas, but he didn’t have trouble pooping. Not sure why more lactose would be good for a gassy baby. We’ve had great success with the store brand version of the Enfamil Gentlease.

We use Mylicon drops and our son seems to like it. I only give him the drops at his feeding before bed and once during the night. We use an organic formula now and dr. Browns bottles. The combination of the changes helped his gas.

Put the gas drops in the formula after it’s mixed and let it sit for a few minutes before feeding.

I am using Similac for my baby girl, she is very sensitive to different formulas but I do use gas drops since I know her tummy hurts bc of the formula.
