Last 10 weeks birth prep!
Hello y’all! I wanted to post my last 10 weeks birth prep! (I’m 31 weeks now, due May 8!) if you wanted an idea of things to do or an idea of things to do when or start when, then here ya go!
Between 30-34/35 weeks
- 30 weeks start home study hypnobabies course. (I’m late one starting because I was out of town last week. Ah!)
- get baby’s clothes and things washed and put away.
- once or twice a week, have birth partner practice labour massage techniques on you and practice labour positions together (so you don’t have to communicate as much when the time comes.)
- at least 2-3 times a week, stretch and do some easy movements for preparing for birth.
For me specifically -
- organize daughters room and switch her clothes over to her big girl dresser.
- organize our room, set up baby’s bassinet, switch over daughters old baby dresser/change table into our room.
- organize new babys clothes and things into the new dresser.
By week 35-36 -
- have hospital bag packed
- write up my official birth plan and post birth plan
- new baby’s car seat base installed
- have birth affirmations written up and posted up as well as some available to take on the go to the hospital or birth centre. (I will be labouring at home, but due to a brain condition I have I will be transferring to a hospital by 7-8cm.)
By week 36-37
- start pumping for a few minutes once a day (I’m doing this because of my brain condition that could cause us some issues as I give birth and since I’m already leaking colostrum AND I plan to breastfeed exclusively like I did with my daughter, I made a safe plan for ME, to save up some colostrum to have just in case I am unable to nurse my baby at first.)
- have the home cleaned and organized. Get help! So then until birth happens you and others who live there just have to help keep up on general upkeep haha!
- make labour music playlist
By week 37-38
- (the labour massages, stretching, and labour position practice, and hypnobirth or other childbirth classes or meditations have been continuing all this time!)
- you and/or have partner begin perineum massages with your chosen balm/oil/cream
By week 38-40
- relax and go on some dates/friend dates.
- get a pedicure
- continue birth prep mentioned
- the countdown is on!
