My hospital does it standard unless baby is in medical distress and needs to be separated right away! I’m glad to know I won’t even have to ask.

I do with this one if I can. I couldn’t with my first because his cord was in a tight knot and he was essentially starving himself as it was, which is why I had to be induced.

I read that you can delay 1-2 min max if you want to bank any cord blood.  I’m hoping to donate to cord 4 life, and supposedly 90 seconds gets baby pretty much all he needs and saves enough to bank too.

It’s usually pretty standard now! Unless there’s some type of medical emergency. My daughter was 5 weeks early and had a 2 week NICU stay and they still did it. But yes if it’s not standard at your hospital you should definitely request it!

My hospital did it automatically in 2017 when I had my son. I’ll be making sure they will do it again for my daughter in a couple of weeks.
