Cooking is my hobby and my stress relief!

Vanida

I’ve just reach 8 weeks postpartum and slowly getting back into the rhythm of daily life. My favorite activity to do before pregnancy, during and after having a baby is cooking. I get compliments all the time about it and how amazing everything looks and how much people want to eat/join me for dinner. BUT sometimes I get the “I can’t believe you are even cooking!” .. “I would be so tired that I can’t think of doing that”... “I barely make cereal for myself” and my typical response is...”yes, I am tired but it is also my time to myself. To be creative, to be able to do something without worrying about holding the baby or something related to motherhood for 15-30 mins of my day.” IT IS ME TIME. My hubby is usually home by then and I get to prep dinner and I feel good about it.

Some people may think it’s weird but I love it and I don’t feel like it’s a chore. I do feel like some people get a little judgy when they see me cook a shrimp risotto and is shocked that I had time to do it. Well I don’t eat out much and I really wanted shrimp risotto and with a small infant at home, we won’t be going to a nice steakhouse anytime soon so why not make it ourselves?

Maybe I am just being sensitive or easily offended but I just don’t like the judgy tone that people give me or the backhand compliment when they say talk about my cooking.

Just venting... but here my dinner.
