Are we silent carriers of HSV2????

Question

Me and my partner both suffer from oral cold sores, been together for 8 years and have oral sex (obv without a cold sore present) and nether of us have ever had it on our genitals. 
Are we just lucky? Or do you think we could be silent carriers ? 
Not sure if there is any blood tests we could do to test for it in the UK 🤔

Just because you have cold sores(hsv1) that doesn't mean you will get sores on your genitals. If you were to get sores on your genitals by way of oral, since you guys have hsv1 it would be genital hsv1. It doesn't just turn into hsv2 because it's on the genitals. Hsv2 is only contracted from someone that has hsv2. You can get an IGG blood test to tell you what type you have but I'm sure it will be hsv1. Even if you had hsv1 on your genitals the blood test would say hsv1 so there's no way to tell if you have it on your genitals unless there's a sore down there to be swabbed.

Hsv1 or Hsv2 doesn't indicate location of the virus. This is a common misconception. Both virus' can be in either location. However to answer the question, it is unlikely to have both of them it rare. Usually if you have one the antibodies from that infection help resist the other.

A blood test would be pointless since you already have oralHSV1.
Getting HSV1 on the genital is genitalHSV1 .
It does not turn into HSV2 because of the location.
Y'all probably have just been lucky so far not to transmit to the genital yet.
