What would you do if your sister doesn’t want to get her whooping cough vaccine?

I have just gotten my whooping cough vaccine as has my husband. 
My other sister had her baby just over a year ago so she is covered along with her family and are coming interstate to visit. 
My other sister has been side stepping the question of vaccination for whooping cough & I don’t think she has gotten it as hasn’t said a ‘yes’ or ‘no’. 
So- does she visit us or wait till baby girl gets her shots by 6-8 weeks?

Did you get your shot while pregnant or after baby was born? If you got it while pregnant, she would have got some of the immunity from the vaccine as well. But even if your sister just has the common cold I would worry about VRI. And vaccines are precautionary but when it comes to whooping cough and bronchitis and pneumonia. You can still get it with or without the vaccine unfortunately. My daughter got all of them even with having been vaccinated. But I think because she contracted VRI at 8 weeks and being on steroids. It has made her immune system weak. She is now almost 3 and fine and off asthma meds. Goes to a play group and fights colds and flys off easily. If anyone is sick. Keep them away from baby, vaccinated or not.

Is there an outbreak in your area? 
The TDAP is usually given as a booster every 10 years so a healthy adult shouldn’t need it any more often. Now if there is currently an outbreak of whooping cough in your area, maybe you want to be more cautious.

Agree with Brittney above, ask your Dr if there is an outbreak. Adults can still get whooping cough themselves and not know because their symptoms are different from what we see in babies. I've also seen what whooping cough does to babies and it's not something to take lightly. 
I was told yesterday by my OB that people who want to visit and are not vaccinated cannot see baby for 12 weeks minimum (there is an outbreak where I'm at) which I'll be slapping around without a second thought. My dad happily got the shot, my mom is trying to play stupid. Too bad, my baby not getting whooping cough is more important than her 😂 but she still has time to get it if she wants to visit sooner.

No way. Look that's cool i guess if she doesn't think it's necessary but it's not cool to put your or other babies/kids at risk with anything that can be vaccinated against. It's dumb. Really dumb. Regardless if there is a known outbreak or not, i would say no. Outbreaks sometimes take time to be noticed and sometimes take longer to be reported to the media/public. If your sister doesn't want to get the vaccination, it's her choice and that's whatever, but don't put your kid at risk.

Going through something similar with my SIL with influenza shot. I told her I understand you don’t want it but because baby is still at risk of contacting it if you want to come and see baby in hospital you can but you and your kids have to wear a mask the entire time. You can be contagious for up to 48 hours before you show symptoms and she was ok with it
