!!TMI!! Bacterial Vaginosis?!

So I had a swab done at the emergency department due to pain when urinating (I had a bladder infection) and they called me back a few days later to say it came up positive for bacterial vaginosis. The nurse on the phone said “we don’t really want to treat it because you are pregnant, so just let your doctor know at your next checkup in a few weeks and use protection with your husband”

But everywhere I look online says it can cause late miscarriage or pre-term labour if untreated... I’m really confused and don’t know what to trust... Has anyone else had this during pregnancy? And what did your doctor say. (Also im 20 weeks pregnant)
